New Bold Dawn heralded Church of Trees' breakthrough to U.S. College Radio, entering the "top ten most added albums" on the NACC charts.

New Bold Dawn is edgy synthpop with themes that reflect on the 2020 pandemic, the climate crisis, and a cartoon president. Dark, brooding, with glimpses of hope, the songs ride a roller-coaster of emotions echoing our strange and uncertain times. The Impact of Covid-19 When the pandemic took hold, the band had 2 songs left to record. Unable to complete them at Skylark Park, CoT leader, Bernard Frazer decided to push one of the songs out (Ego and Greed) and record vocals for the Covid-inspired “End of Days” from home. “We had no choice. End of Days had to get on the album. So, we worked remotely with Jordon to lay down the vocal tracks.”

Frazer also chose to rename the album from “GRETA” to “New Bold Dawn”. “I thought it was important to capture what was happening, both with a song (End of Days) and the album name. It just made sense to us.”

The Recording Process

Produced by Frazer and Blinker The Star's Jordon Zadorozny (Courtney Love, Lindsay Buckingham, Chris Cornell), Church of Trees developed their sonic palette at Zadorozny's ”Skylark Park” studio. The veteran producer/artist mixed and mastered the album and, for the first time, played a role in pre-production. “Jordon is a whiz” Frazer notes, “It only made sense to get him involved earlier in the process.”
